The Agamudaiyans are the community most influenced by Brahminism.
The ordinary title of the Agamudaiyans is Servaikkaran, but many of them call themselves Pillai.
In Thanjavur district, agamudaiyans are also called "Terkittiyar" or "southerners".
The Agamudaiyans are divided into the following sub-sects:

It is a general practice in Tamil Nadu to address a Thevar woman as "Nachchiyaar".
The Kallars of Dindigul, Trichy, Thanjavur, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, Pudukottai and Ramnad Districts have very distinct surnames.
